Job Description

Direct and manage maintenance personnel that maintain the Water Reclamation Facility and auxiliary equipment. Oversee and ensure the employees comply with all applicable safety regulations, National Electrical Code (NEC), and safety requirements. Ensure completion of maintenance and repair jobs in accordance with established standards.

Collaborate with Superintendent for best practices of preventative maintenance program on services of pumps, motors, submersible mixers, valve actuators, compressors, pneumatic control systems, and related equipment. Coordinate and maintain reports; send all updated preventive maintenance records to the appropriate correspondents. Incumbent must be competent in all Water Reclamation Facility computer systems, including (but not limited to) VTScada;
Allen Bradley/Rockwell automation PLCs hardware and software; RSLogix rs-5, rs-500, rs-5000; and Siemens equipment.

Manages employees' time and activities (KRONOS). Completes work request in a timely manner using a computerized system (Aim Work Management). Creates scope of work (SOW) and initiate requisitions through MyUF Market for projects. Manage vendor activities to ensure work is completed in compliance with University of Florida (UF) standards through follow up inspections, commissioning, and proper documentation. Process supporting and closing documents to initiate vendor payments by UF/ Facilities Services standards.

Manage all maintenance contracts, standards operating procedures, and safety standards compliance. Keep up-to-date records, manuals, and drawings for the Water Reclamation Facility. Direct and coordinate the layout, estimating, scheduling, and accomplishments of jobs with other maintenance departments.

Order parts and supplies in support of Utilities Water Reclamation Facility activities while assuring all work orders are charged correctly. Ensure direct reports are properly equipped with safety apparel and shop stock to be effective and efficient in the field.

Perform inspections (safety, workmanship, equipment) and provide OJT to ensure quality and maximize productivity. Acquire and demonstrate knowledge and skills through hands‑on training and education curriculum for National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Industrial Maintenance Mechanic program within PPD. Complete appraisals for direct reports and assist with employees' continual professional growth.

Ensure that Work Management and all applicable managers are aware of projects taking place and project statues. Update the Superintendent and Project Managers with the progress of all work performed. Attend scheduled meetings and prepare presentations (as needed).

Work emergencies, shifts, and on‑call (as required). Assume additional duties in absence of Utility Superintendent. Drive UF/state vehicle.

State of Florida Class E Operator License

State of Florida Class E operator (driver) license is required.

  • Working hours include regular and irregular hours

Expected Salary

$66,500.00 to $71,000.00 Annually based on experience.
