The University of Florida College of Medicine - Department of Psychiatry is seeking qualified Other Personnel Services (OPS) applicants for the role of OPS Data Management Assistant. This position offers the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week on a high‑impact project within a leading academic medical center.
The PGENeS Group studies how genes, environment, and culture interact and influence human emotion and behavior. In particular, we focus on how these factors affect the development and expression of neuropsychiatric syndromes including anxiety, resilience, ADHD, OCD, compulsive hoarding and tic disorders.
We are looking for a data management assistant to support a large-scale digitization project and maintain data quality within our REDCap database system.
This position will have a primary role in REDCap database quality assurance and paper-to-electronic data conversion. The assistant will help resolve data quality issues including duplicates, inconsistencies, and entry errors. They will also manage the scanning, organization, and labeling of paper clinical research files (consent forms, pedigrees, etc.), enter information from these documents into REDCap, and coordinate the migration of digitized files back into the database system.
This position will help finalize our ongoing digitization efforts and ensure accurate electronic data capture.
Duties Will Include The Following:
- REDCap Database Quality Management:
Help correct data quality issues across multiple REDCap projects including duplicate entries, missing data, and inconsistencies. Implement systematic cleanup processes as new issues are discovered. Export and merge data from legacy projects into REDCap. Enter data manually as needed. - Document Digitization and Data Entry:
Scan, organize, and label paper research files including consent forms, pedigrees, etc. Enter information from paper documents into REDCap databases following established protocols. Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems. - Data Migration:
Support the migration and organization of digitized files back into REDCap once digitization is complete, ensuring proper data mapping, validation, and quality control throughout the transfer process. - When primary duties are complete, this position may assist with data analysis and developing reports using software such as R, Python, SPSS, or STATA.
Expected Salary: $16.00 per hour
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- Attention to detail and ability to identify data inconsistencies
- Knowledge/Experience in data quality assessment and database management.
Preferred:
- Knowledge/Experience with REDCap, databases and data quality assurance.
- Familiarity with R or Python is preferred.
- Experience with SPSS, Stata and/or REDCap is a plus but not required.
- Previous experience working on a research project; paid or volunteer including data entry, document management, or database maintenance.
Interviews will involve demonstrating skills in data quality assessment and database management. Candidates should be prepared to discuss their experience with REDCap or similar databases, including identifying data inconsistencies, managing duplicate entries, and maintaining data integrity across multiple tables or forms.
