Job Description- The Associate Director is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and effective operation of the E&G Office, ensuring that human resource service delivery is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Employee Relations and all UFHR strategic objectives.
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance to Vice Presidents, Deans, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, and their leadership teams, supervisors, and managers on ER and other personnel‑related issues for faculty and staff members.
- Interpret, communicate, and ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, and UF regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Assist management in interpreting and applying relevant regulations and collective bargaining agreements.
- Review, provide guidance, and assist with drafting appropriate faculty and staff employee relations actions, including discipline, evaluations, probationary actions, non‑reappointments, layoffs, separations, and reassignments.
- Coordinate predetermination conferences for appealable disciplinary actions and serve as a technical adviser during the meetings.
- Assist with coordinating faculty grievance processes and other matters arising from grievances or resolutions, including drafting responses.
- When appropriate, facilitate informal resolutions of issues.
- Assist General Counsel’s office with arbitrations and appealable actions, including preparing comprehensive case summaries, case files, and presenting testimony when appropriate.
- Provide guidance on various HR policies, investigations, and work with other areas of UFHR to support campus needs.
- Participate in union bargaining as requested by supervisor.
- Manage the daily operations of the UF Engaged staff performance management program, providing guidance on performance management, facilitating training sessions for supervisors, one‑on‑one coaching, and reviewing and drafting appropriate documentation.
- Assist with performance improvement plan development and oversee administration and development of the UF Engaged process in myUFL, providing participation reports to unit leaders.
- Provide consultation and guidance to employees regarding terms and conditions of employment, including coaching, counseling, and conflict resolution, and act as mediator when necessary.
- Oversee workplace programs, including the University of Florida Worker's Compensation Program, UF WC Coordinator support, claims data review, injury pattern analysis with EH&S, and Modified Duty Program requirements.
- Oversee the Unemployment Compensation Program, supporting claims hearings and daily processes.
- Manage the Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator and Coast Guard Captain programs to ensure compliance with federal guidelines.
- Facilitate and conduct training for supervisors and employees, presenting HR101 and Mastering the Challenge of Managing Employees, and other UF training as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
$115,000-$125,000
