The Cardiac and Vascular Institute of Gainesville, FL is seeking a very dynamic EMT and/or Medical Assistant to join our company as a DEVICE TECHNICIAN (Pacemakers and ICD) in the DEVICE SERVICES department of our practice. This is a great opportunity to be a part of the largest most advanced cardiovascular practice in North Central Florida. Device / Pacemaker / ICD Technician
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:Responsible for follow‑up of our patients with implantable devices.
LOCATION:Gainesville and Lake City, Florida
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Reports to Device Technician Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Fulfills patient care responsibilities by providing a variety of remote checks, in‑office interrogations and programming of implanted cardiac devices.
- Reviews abnormal device checks with the physician or ACP.
- Identifies device and/or lead issues and programs to correct if possible.
- Performs noninvasive pacemaker studies with the physician in the clinic setting.
- Identifies patient who may need device upgrade, lead revision, and generator change.
- Schedules remote follow‑up and calls patient after each remote transmission.
- Performs incision checks and follow‑up instructions.
- Maintains accurate patient implant data in TCAVI database.
- Reviews and returns to appropriate device company, quarterly follow‑up reports to device registry.
- Scans reports into patient chart and completes EHR documentation.
- Mentors other team members in regards to implantable devices.
- Performs other duties as required.
CVT, EMT, MA, LPN (Experience in lieu of formal education will be considered)
EXPERIENCE:Advanced EKG knowledge, direct patient care experience, wound assessment skills.
REQUIREMENTS:Knowledge of EKG principles, wound care, iEHR. Familiarity with medical equipment and instruments used to administer patient care. Willing to obtain knowledge of CMS guidelines for device follow‑up. Willing to obtain skills in all required competency areas.
