Responsibilities- Perform patient registration for a Level 1 Trauma Center, including creation and verification of medical records and account numbers
- Collect and verify demographic, insurance, financial, sponsorship, and guardian information from patients, families, providers, and external agencies
- Process emergency department and observation admissions accurately and efficiently
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits electronically; obtain required authorizations within established time frames
- Identify, estimate, and collect patient financial responsibility at the point of service
- Utilize third-party payer systems and websites to confirm coverage, authorizations, and financial obligations
- Support revenue cycle performance by following registration guidelines to improve first-pass yield and reduce denials and accounts receivable
- Obtain required regulatory documentation, including consents for treatment, financial agreements, and HIPAA acknowledgments
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative departments to support timely and effective patient care
- Screen visitors and issue security badges using the Passage Point system

This position will work scheduled weekend shifts on a rotating basis in addition to regularly scheduled shifts.
QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- One (1) year of clerical experience in a patient-facing or public contact setting OR six (6) months of experience in a health-related business office or third-party payer environment
- College-level coursework and knowledge of medical and insurance terminology preferred
- Proven ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and make timely, sound decisions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with computer applications and multiple systems preferred
- Strong verbal, written, and analytical communication skills
- Adaptable, tactful, and able to perform effectively under pressure
- Demonstrates professionalism, appropriate appearance, and a positive first-impression mindset
