Join Our Team as a Veterinary Assistant in Emergency and Critical Care!
The Emergency and Critical Care department is responsible for evaluating/treating patients seen on the triage service and treating hospitalized patients in the Intensive Care Unit. Our technician assistant positions are the perfect entry for less experienced individuals interested becoming better acquainted with the emergency animal care environment and common veterinary medicine practices. This service is looking for veterinary assistants to help technicians and doctors to provide excellent patient care.
Applicants must be motivated, well-organized, hardworking, and prepared to take direction well.
Primary Duties Of The Assistants Will Include Assisting The Veterinary Technicians And Clinicians With Triage And Critically Ill Patients. Assistants Are Responsible For Maintaining The Cleanliness Of The ICU, ER, And Department Equipment, As Well As Maintaining Inventory And Stock In These Rooms. This Includes But Is Not Limited To The Following:
- Animal restraint for catheter placements, bandage changes, anesthesia, etc.
- Walking and feeding patients
- Documentation in medical records
- Assisting with patient intake
- Sweeping, mopping, dusting, organizing
- Basic clean-up following procedures
- Cleaning runs/cages
- Restocking and cleaning of stock carts, procedure carts, and crash carts
- Cleaning and properly storing all equipment in the ECC area
- Cleaning and preparing items for sterilization
- Submitting and receiving central stores orders
- Assisting technicians with volunteer orientation and training
This is a 24-hour service. We currently need veterinary assistant coverage on overnight (10:00pm - 8:00am) shifts.
SalaryExpected Salary: $15/hour
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
CVA (Certified Veterinary Assistant)

This is a CARE position offering limited benefits, including health insurance and paid time off. When appropriate certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to a level II title may be available.
