The EHS Manager plays a vital role in supporting safe and effective operations by planning, overseeing, and executing company-wide Health and Safety programs. Responsible for assessing safety needs based on regulatory requirements, as well as communicating and developing action plans, policies, and procedures to ensure employee safety.
Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate facility staff to execute company mission statement and ensure compliance with Company and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance requirements governing the medical marijuana business including regulatory agencies Office of Compassionate Use, OSHA, Fire Department(s), City Zoning and Planning Department(s), and other regulatory agencies.
- Identify and develop industry-leading Health & Safety best practices within the facility in coordination with the national standards and direction.
- Perform monthly safety inspections and conduct safety meetings to identify workplace hazards and investigate accidents and injuries.
- Manage employee Health & Safety training programs and maintain training records, including basic OSHA training and First Aid/CPR.
- Ensure OSHA compliance, completing OSHA 30-hour General Industry Training and renewing every 4 years.
- Coordinate with facility managers to gather information and investigate accidents and injuries and determine compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and company policies and provide documented solutions to reduce future risks.
- Write and submit accident reports, Health & Safety violation reports and complete required Health & Safety forms such as OSHA 300 & OSHA 300A.
- Review accident reports, incident reports and other employee documentation as part of the investigation process and required company reporting.
- Adapt to a variety of working environments including offices, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities.
- Schedule annual inspections, audits, and facilitate random inspections including follow-up action items from inspections/audits.
- Report any on-site inspection to the appropriate Leaders within the facility as well as corporate personnel.
- Hazardous Waste LQG status required.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
- First Aid and CPR Certified.
- Must meet the age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agencies.
- Must pass all background checks/fingerprinting as required by state cannabis agencies.
- Valid badging/credentials required by state cannabis agencies.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field.
- National Association of Safety Professionals Licensed Safety Professional®, Certified Safety Manager® or other certification preferred.
- Five years of related experience required.
