Student Counseling Specialist III
The Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) at the University of Florida is seeking an experienced mental health professional to serve as the Assistant Director for Crisis and Emergency Resource Center (CERC). This individual will assist with the planning and management of the center's emergency response and will act in place of the Associate Director for Crisis and Emergency Resource Center in that person's absence.
This individual will also serve as the coordinator and provide direct oversight for CWC's Consultation and Referral Team (CART). The Assistant Director for CERC reports to the Associate Director for CERC and works closely with the Associate and Assistant Directors for Clinical Services in the coordination of CART functions. This person serves in a key administrative role responsible for training, planning, and providing leadership for all aspects of CART. While this role does not include direct supervisory responsibilities for clinical staff, this person may hold supervisory duties for trainees and unlicensed CART counselors.
This role works collaboratively with CWC's support staff, case managers, leadership team, and clinical faculty, assisting in policy drafting and planning. This person is responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with other clinical faculty and University of Florida departments to ensure that brief consultation and referral appointments, walk-in crisis counseling, and consultation with faculty and staff are compatible with other campus efforts and meeting the needs of University of Florida (UF) students.
- Program Oversight
- Manage daily clinical and administrative operations for the CART program
- Train new CART counselors in consultation, crisis intervention, and referral service
- Provide ongoing support for CART counselors
- Oversee waitlist management to ensure timely access to CWC services
- Coordinate schedules to maintain adequate coverage for on-call services and brief consultation and referrals (BCR) appointments throughout the year
- Provide clinical supervision to unlicensed CART counselors and trainees
- Collaborate with the CWC Associate Director for Training to oversee the training of doctoral interns and post-doctoral fellows in brief consultation, referral, and crisis services
- Direct Clinical Service
- Conduct BCR appointments to assist students in identifying needed services and resources
- Provide consultation to clinicians, students, faculty, and stakeholders related to crisis and emergency needs
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with SHCC psychiatry and UF stakeholders to ensure smooth inter-departmental processes
- Serve as a secondary member of campus interdisciplinary teams related to crisis response, including the Emergency Operations Team and the Behavioral Concerns and Threat Assessment Team
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to support and enhance clinical operations
- Fulfill administrative and committee responsibilities
- Assist the Associate Director of Crisis and Emergency Resource Center in the planning and implementation of CWC's emergency preparedness initiatives and protocol development
- Support the clinical aspects of the university's crisis response, including emergency shelter operations during weather-related or other emergency events
