Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship
Walgreens is looking for a Pharmacy Technician / Pharmacy Technician Apprentice to join our team in Gainesville, FL. This role focuses on patient‑centric care – interacting with customers, building strong relationships, and contributing to the quality of pharmacy services.
Salary Range$16.50 /hour – $20.00 /hour
Responsibilities- Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure accurate completion of drug counts and labeling.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Greet customers and patients, offering assistance with products and services; resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Share customer service best practices with all team members, including greeting, eye contact, courtesy, and proactive help.
- Build strong relationships with most valuable customers.
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy, complying with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct and company policies.
- Enter patient and drug information in pharmacy systems, verify medication accuracy, and check for potential interactions.
- Report prescription errors immediately; adhere to quality improvement procedures.
- Handle cash register duties, including sales registration and cash handling.
- Manage telephone calls not requiring pharmacist attention and process manual claims for third‑party prescription services.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals.
- Support clinical services such as blood/urine sample collection and coordination with external providers.
- Maintain the pharmacy department’s cleanliness, organization, and supply readiness.
- Build relationships with local medical community through provider detailing and outreach.
- Perform special assignments as directed by management.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through a recognized training program, or achieve certification as a condition of promotion.
- Attend manager‑requested training and accrue continuing‑education credits.
- Stay updated on healthcare, pharmacy news, and emerging developments.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except for Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
- Good computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
