Overview
Assist as a member of the surgical team who works with the surgeon, registered nurse, and anesthesiologist delivering direct patient care before, during and after surgery. The technologist specialist functions as an instrument assistant and may also function as a circulating assistant under supervision of a registered nurse. Instruct and supervise orientees in sterile technique, procedures, anatomy, etc.
Responsibilities- Serve as an instrument assistant during surgical procedures.
- Function as a circulating assistant under the supervision of a registered nurse when assigned.
- Instruct and supervise orientees in sterile technique, procedures, and anatomy.
- AST certification required and AST or NCCT certification maintained.
- Graduate of a recognized surgical technologist program.
