Risk Manager/Analyst, Underwriter
Role
Responsible for securing liens and perfecting titles on collateralized property. Process GAP, warranties and collateral protection insurance. Assist Consumer Lending Manager with processing consumer loans and conducting annual or semi-annual credit reviews.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Reviews and evaluates information on consumer loans for in-house and indirect applications to determine if borrower and loan conditions meet risk standards of credit union. Uses market underwriting knowledge to evaluate risk for in-house and indirect loans where such standards are required by credit union policy. Approves, rejects or qualifies in-house and indirect loan applications. Establishes terms and conditions of approved loans.
Assures that all NCUA, federal and state policies, regulations and laws are adhered to. - Ensures titles are perfected and records lien properly on all collateralized property. Processes GAP, warranty, and collateral protection insurance and ensures files are documented correctly.
- Funds indirect contracts. Reviews and quality controls files for completeness and accuracy as related contract specifics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- To ensure all liens are recorded in a timely manner to best protect the credit union's interest.
- To maintain a working knowledge of the credit union's loan standards and governmental regulations.
- To ensure GAP, warranty, and collateral protection insurance are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
- To process loan requests, in a profitable manner, within credit union policy and procedures while meeting government compliance.
- To maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and co-workers.
Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education(1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal SkillsWork involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
