Responsibilities
- Support the department's objective of Clinical Engineering (attachment
A). - With some guidance, lead clinical engineering projects through all stages of their lifecycle, working with multidisciplinary teams of internal and external customers and stakeholders to identify needs, coordinate purchasing, manage installation, conduct job‑site inspections to ensure compliance with project scope, and ensure quality of work while considering clinical needs. Plan the handoff to day‑to‑day operations and document the project. May manage a project team of clinical engineers, BMETs, and/or team leaders.
- Under supervision and guidance, investigate clinical incidents involving medical devices and prepare and file appropriate reports (with Risk and Quality departments), disseminate information regarding possible hazards, and implement corrective action.
- Maintain vendor compliance for medical equipment service repairs, including vendor onboarding to the Clinical Engineering database, ensuring all repairs and PM paperwork is properly submitted, coordinating vendor visits, and addressing vendor concerns. Work with the department to manage the process for service contract renewals and amendments, update and maintain accurate records and reports for contracts in the CE database, and coordinate vendor activities with departments.
Communicate with manufacturers about problems with medical devices and ensure appropriate responses. - Perform other related duties as required.
- Operationally coordinate medical device installations with vendors, Biomedical Technicians, and departments.
- Conduct independent analysis, coordination, and remediation of medical device recalls with vendors, clinical departments, clinical engineering technicians, and supervisors. Assist the Director and Manager of Clinical Engineering with alert and recall management and other environmental‑of‑care reporting.
- Assist with medical equipment data analysis, report preparation, and billing reports for the clinics.
- Analyze, prioritize, implement, and monitor medical device network activities in conjunction with the IS department and the clinical engineering department.
- Assist the department Director and other clinical engineering management staff in evaluating and supervising technical staff as they perform duties related to technical support, maintenance, and repair of patient‑care equipment.
- Conduct regular job‑site inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory aspects of medical equipment management per the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), supporting front‑line technicians while servicing complex life‑support and all other medical equipment. Also assist the Director and management staff to monitor, analyze, and take appropriate action to ensure manufacturer, regulatory, institutional, and departmental guideline compliance.
- Monitor and manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) data to ensure accurate record‑keeping, regulatory compliance, and timely status reporting. Identify and correct data inconsistencies while maintaining complete and up‑to‑date preventive maintenance schedules, service procedures, equipment histories, and vendor documentation. Ensure CMMS data supports Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA‑99, and institutional MEMP requirements, enabling effective decision‑making and issue resolution.
- Review and update preventive maintenance (PM) procedures to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and equipment safety. Collaborate with the clinical engineering team to develop streamlined, time‑saving workflows that support biomedical technicians and maintain the highest standards of medical equipment reliability and performance.

QualificationsMinimum
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial engineering, or other related technology fields.
- 2 years of relevant medical equipment service experience or other related healthcare, research, or contract‑related experience.
- Motor Vehicle Operator Designation (Required):
Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a non‑frequent driver. - Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Certified Clinical Engineer preferred.
