Job Summary
Quality Labor Management is seeking an intermediate-level Structural Materials Technician to support a state highway materials testing and quality assurance program within a Structural Materials Laboratory. This role involves logging and preparing samples, performing intermediate laboratory test procedures with minimal supervision, entering and analyzing test data in the appropriate system/database, and extracting results to produce detailed reports, correspondence, and routine communications with District and Contractor personnel.
Applicants should be comfortable using engineering tools, instruments, and laboratory equipment (including computers/software), able to work independently and in a team environment, and able to routinely lift up to 50 lbs.. This is an on-site laboratory position. Remote work is not available. Relocation assistance is not offered.

General Responsibilities- Log, track, and prepare material samples for testing in the laboratory
- Perform intermediate laboratory testing procedures with minimal supervision
- Enter, review, and analyze test results using the appropriate reporting software program or database
- Extract test data and prepare detailed reports, documentation, and correspondence
- Communicate testing status/results as needed with District and Contractor personnel
- Maintain lab readiness through proper upkeep, calibration, and verification of testing equipment
- Log samples into MAC and prepare them for testing
- Perform intermediate testing of concrete materials
- Review test data, enter results into MAC
, and prepare technical reports as needed - Perform maintenance, calibration, and verification of laboratory testing equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow established lab procedures
- Ability to use computers and standard laboratory/engineering tools, instruments, and equipment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Organized, dependable, and highly motivated with strong attention to detail
- Experience with data entry and quality review
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively with others or independently to meet common goals
- Technical writing skills (clear documentation, reports, and correspondence)
- Basic mechanical/troubleshooting skills to address equipment issues
- Familiarity with materials testing data systems (e.g.,
MAC
) (helpful but not required) - Experience with concrete materials testing and/or lab QA practices (helpful but not required
