Senior Water Resources Design Engineer
WSP is hiring for a Senior Water Resources Design Engineer at our Gainesville, FL office. The role is ideal for an Environmental, Civil, or Agricultural Engineer who thrives on technical challenges and client interaction.
Responsibilities include supporting engineering design projects, project management, and developing proposals for water resources projects—specifically stormwater, dredging, wetland restoration, and permitting.
Key Responsibilities- Engineer with a background in Environmental, Civil, or Agricultural Engineering needed with strong technical skills to deliver quality products to customers in an expanding marketplace.
- Conduct both field and office elements of projects.
- Conduct water quality, hydrologic, and groundwater models; develop water budgets; understand structural components, specifically as related to water resources design improvements.
- Prepare erosion and sediment control plans.
- Using CAD, prepare design plans, construction bid documents, permitting documents, and conduct construction phase services.
- Work with staff on project tasks in a team environment.
- Strong commitment to the company's "Beyond Zero" safety program; follow company safety standards, site safety standards, and maintain safe workplace practices.
- 5-7 years of design experience preferred.
- Minimum BS in Engineering.
- Must have EI and be working towards or have obtained the PE.
- Strong skills in water resources engineering, including environmental, water quality, hydrologic modeling, AutoCAD design, and construction oversight.
- Specific knowledge of the hydrology and water quality issues of Florida.
- Understanding of climate change.
- Client relationships and project experience in Florida required.
- Experience with the following hydrologic and hydraulic models: ICPR and HEC.
- Proficiency with the suite of MS Office products.
- Strong effective oral and written communication skills; proven ability to prepare reports and proposals.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and apply cost control, scheduling, and risk management.
- Skills in mentoring and motivating junior staff.
- Must be able to travel locally and out of area as necessary; majority of travel within Florida.
- Position located in the Gainesville, FL office.
- Must pass a background check and have a satisfactory driving record per the Company’s MVR policy.
