OPS Part-Time Levy County 4‑H Summer Camp Assistants

- Facilitate traditional camp activities such as workshops, field trips, and recreational activities.
- Plan and implement alternative activities for rainy days or other inclement weather.
- Support programmatic responsibilities related to positive youth development and overall program planning.
- Work with the 4‑H Extension Agent and 4‑H Program Assistant to meet affirmative action compliance and the University of Florida’s Youth Protection Policy.
- Enforce rules to maintain safety and health of youth and volunteers, including supervision and transportation of minors (ages 8‑18).
- Adapt quickly to schedule changes and apply principles of positive youth development, life skills, and the mission of Florida 4‑H.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the 4‑H Extension Agent or County Extension Director.
- Maintain a clean, appropriate work appearance per the 4‑H Camping Dress Code.
- Age 18 or older.
- Strong understanding of 4‑H or experience in conducting educational programs.
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly desired.
- Experience coordinating and implementing education programs is strongly desired.
- Certifications in Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid.
- Ability to work with and instruct youth through innovative, non‑formal methods.
- Experience working with diverse youth and adult audiences; ability to cooperate with staff and office personnel.
- Effective communication skills with the public and 4‑H families.
- Proficiency in standard office equipment and computer software.
$14 per hour

- Valid Florida driver’s license and required endorsements for vehicle operation.
- Background check, fingerprinting, and completion of the University of Florida’s Youth Protection Training Certificate (#YCS
800). - Physical ability to stoop, sit, crouch, walk, grasp, hear, talk, see, kneel, reach, pull, stand, and perform repetitive motions; occasional lifting of 10–25 pounds and up to 50 pounds may be required.
- Work hours typically Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM; irregular hours after 4:30 PM and occasionally before 7:00 AM may be required.
