Salary: $20-$23 per hour commensurate with education and experience
Responsibilities- Provides admissions advising and pre-advising to prospective and admitted students regarding program requirements, application processes, and enrollment pathways
- Responds to inquiries from applicants and prospective students via email, phone, and virtual appointments
- Reviews application materials and academic records to support admissions decisions and pre-advising guidance
- Communicates admissions decisions, next steps, and enrollment requirements to applicants
- Provides academic advising to students regarding degree requirements, course selection, registration, academic policies, and university resources
- Assists students with interpreting curriculum requirements, academic progress, and university regulations
- Reviews student records, degree audits, and academic documentation to support advising decisions
- Communicates with students via email, phone, and/or advising appointments regarding academic planning and program requirements
- Documents advising interactions and maintains accurate student records in accordance with university policies
- Assists with registration periods, orientation, and advising-related events or initiatives
- Refers students to appropriate campus resources as needed
- Maintains confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA and university guidelines
- Performs other advising or administrative duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret academic policies, procedures, and degree requirements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a student-centered academic environment
- Experience working in a higher education or academic setting
- Familiarity with University of Florida systems (e.g., Slate, Canvas, People Soft, or similar academic/administrative platforms)
- Knowledge of UF academic policies, registration processes, and curriculum requirements
- Experience working with diverse student populations

This is a time-limited OPS position at the University of Florida. The OPS Academic Advisor provides admission and academic advising support to graduate students in the Department of Microbiology and Cell Science. The position assists with admissions services, advising services, student communications, and academic record review to support student success and timely degree completion.
