Job DescriptionThe University of Florida’s Office of Academic Support (OAS) is seeking highly motivated individuals as part-time, grant-funded OPS Academic Success Coach (ASC). OAS provides students with the guidance, resources, and support necessary to help them reach their academic goals. Our services include tutoring, coaching, and academic enrichment workshops that contribute to student transition, retention, and timely degree completion.
The OPS Academic Success Coaches will primarily support students through individualized academic coaching and will work collaboratively as part of the OAS team to promote student success. ASCs assist students with academic planning, goal setting, and navigating challenges or barriers that may hinder their progress toward graduation. The position also fosters student engagement and helps students acclimate to university life. This role offers valuable experience in case management, event and project coordination, and program assessment.
Ideal candidates include graduate students or recent college graduates.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group coaching using a case management approach
- Coordinate academic support services and programs, including academic interventions, workshops, and advising
- Monitor and track student academic progress, maintain accurate documentation, and update data using relevant software
- Build rapport with students to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment that promotes engagement
- Serve as a resource for OAS-affiliated undergraduate scholars or connect them with appropriate referrals
- Maintain consistent communication and follow-up with students
- Promote OAS programs and services to undergraduate students across UF
- Assist with the creation of Academic Enrichment Workshops (AEWs)
- Support the training and leadership development of OAS student leaders
- Perform additional duties as assigned to advance OAS programs and initiatives
$18.00 - $25.00 hourly; commensurate with education and experience.
Required QualificationsPreferred:
- Graduate student or degree in education, counseling, or a related field
- Experience mentoring or coaching students
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including first‑generation, limited income, or students with disabilities
- Ability to apply student development theories to academic support, coaching, advising, and retention efforts
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn student database systems
- Demonstrated commitment to student success initiatives
- At least one year of experience in academic or student affairs
- Working knowledge of student development theory
This position requires 15–20 hours of work per week.
