Job Description:

The School of Art and Art History seeks a UF student with a Federal Work Study award to assist in maintaining the wood shop and metal shop. The successful candidate will have availability during regular business hours and previous experience with wood and/or metal sculpting.

• Monitor student artists’ safe use of equipment and intervene when unsafe uses occur.
• Advise students on safe use of equipment.
• Check woodworking and metalworking tools in and out to students.
• Clean the machines, tables, and floors as needed.
• Clean and organize tool and material storage areas.
• Assist in minor maintenance of equipment as instructed by Teaching Lab Specialists.

$14/hour enfoquired

Required Qualifications:

Federal Work Study award required [see below for instructions to upload certificate].

Applicants must be able to lift fifty pounds on a regular basis.

Availability to work up to 10 hours/week (maximum). Hours are flexible, but days Wednesday‑through‑Friday प्रश्न. Weekly schedule based on school staffing needs (a set schedule will be provided whenever possible).

• Previous wood and/or metal working experience.
• Understanding of basic power tools (drills, saws, sanders, etc.).
• Experience using hand tools such as saws, chisels, carving tools.
