The Department of Classics at the University of Florida seeks a Director of Distance Learning for its online MA and PhD programs. This is a 12‑month appointment renewable at 0.75 FTE with a full benefits package. The start date is January 1, 2026. This is a residential position located on the UF campus in Gainesville, FL.

The primary duties are in teaching and service.

• Teach one course in the Fall semester and one in the Spring semester.
• Recruit new students and administrate the admissions process.
• Monitor, advise, and register current distance students.
• Set exams in cooperation with the department’s graduate faculty.
• Direct and plan the Summer Latin Institute, held each July on the UF campus.
• Oversee the Distance Learning Program website and social media.
• Attend recruitment venues and events.
• Engage in service activities appropriate for the university, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Classics.
• Participate fully in the life of the department.

The Department of Classics, in conjunction with the Center for Greek Studies, provides resources to support research and professional development.
