Job DescriptionProvide advising support for designated Student Government entities including but not limited to:
- Advise the Student Body Vice President in carrying out duties and overseeing the Student Government Cabinet.
- Advise the Executive Secretaries who serve as support liaisons to the Student Body President.
- Advise certain agencies within the Executive Branch of Student Government (e.g., The Big Event, Chomp the Vote, Gators Going Green, Gator Innovators, Nightlife Navigators, Young Leaders Conference).
- Advise the Elections Commission in reviewing election violations and confirming the election results.
- Assist student leaders in event programming, including idea development, budgeting, planning, advertising and promotion, program participants, and completed trainings.
- Coordinate with student leaders for the development, implementation and assessment of a comprehensive training program for Student Government students.
- Assist the Associate Director in the advisement of Student Senate and other Student Government entities.
- Advise the SG Executive team on the planning of events and university processes (including the SG Banquet, State of the Campus Address, Gator Giving Day).
- Serve as a resource to student leaders and student volunteers.
Serve as the administrative lead and provide oversight for Student Government Bike Repair:
- Manage the operational budget and financial transactions for the SG Bike Repair Shop, which serves more than 1,000 students annually.
- Ensure proper maintenance, safety compliance, and functionality of the Bike Repair Shop and satellite repair stations.
- Implement efficient processes for inventory control and resource allocation.
- Assist the Program Coordinator and Graduate Assistant in the supervision of Student Government services including Print Lab and Bike Repair.
Support the administrative functions within Student Government:
- Supervise the Program Coordinator and Graduate Assistant for SG Advising & Operations.
- Meet regularly with supervisor to set goals each semester, monitor progress toward the goals, and conduct formal evaluations of work performed.
- Serve as backup for posting and tracking the various open student leader positions within SG on the SG website.
- Contribute to the Division and University through active participation on committees and division-wide initiatives (example opportunities: emergency dean on call, conduct committee, student welcome events).
The position reports to the Associate Director of Campus Engagement. General direction will be rendered through established goals and expectations, ongoing input, and feedback via regular communication with employees on a daily basis, plus regular performance reviews.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDirectly Supervises: Program Coordinator, Graduate Assistant, Student Assistant(s) – Bike Repair Students.
Indirectly Supervises: Student Government Print Lab.
Full‑time 40 hours per week with additional time during peak periods; frequent night and weekend hours required (including Senate meetings at 7 or 7:30 pm Tuesday nights).
QualificationsRequired: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of relevant experience; or bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of relevant experience.
Preferred:
- A Master’s Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or comparable field and two or more years of relevant experience.
