north florida evaluation and treatment center (nfetc) is a 216 bed, all male, forensic, mental health rehabilitation facility. The center is located in northeast gainesville, florida on 639 picturesque acres with regular sightings of deer, turkey and other wildlife. Nfetc employs a variety of entry level to leadership positions including food service, maintenance, direct care, nurses, counselors, rehab therapists, medical doctors, security, psychiatrists, and psychologists.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who works seamlessly across all sections within the program office. duties and responsibilities
  • clinical care: conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, manage medications, and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • forensic duties: prepare court-ordered reports, provide expert testimony, and collaborate with legal teams on patient competency cases.
  • team leadership: lead interdisciplinary treatment teams, mentor staff, and recommend educational needs to enhance patient care.
  • quality improvement: participate in performance initiatives, review data, and implement corrective actions to improve outcomes.
  • hospital committees: engage in key hospital functions, including mec and forensic board review meetings, and contribute to policy decisions.
additional duties and responsibilities
  • participation in court testimony and hospital meetings.
  • adherence to state regulations, hospital policies, and ethical standards.
  • performs other related duties, as required.
knowledge, skills and abilities
  • certification in cpr, first aid, mandt, infection control, customer service, and osha requirements. Some driving may be required. Intervention with combative individuals may be required.
  • knowledge of the principles and practices of program management and delivery of mental health services.
  • knowledge of mental health, psychiatric principles, practices and techniques.
  • knowledge of psychopharmacology
  • knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • ability to perform complete psychiatric and mental health assessments of patients.

  • ability to compile and evaluate mental health assessments, medical histories and other clinical and laboratory data.
  • ability to initiate diagnostic laboratory tests and evaluate the results.
  • ability to prescribe/alter and administer appropriate medications for specific illnesses.
  • ability to work with patients having a variety of mental psychiatric disorders and physical problems.
