The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Gainesville is recruiting a full-time tenure or non-tenure track acute care surgeon to join the Division of Acute Care Surgery. We currently have 14 full-time surgeons and follow a shared service model, covering acute care surgery, adult trauma care, surgical critical care, complex abdominal wall and intestinal fistula reconstruction, and burn.

Our Level I trauma center provides care to over 5,000 trauma admissions/year, including 17% penetrating trauma volume. Our operative volume for trauma and acute care surgery is over 2,000 cases/year.

This new physician will join a group of Acute Care surgeons with a reputation of excellence in patient care and an established track record of federal and industry funded research in trauma and sepsis. He/she will be one of ten faculty that provide care for adult trauma, acute care surgery, surgical critical care and complex abdominal wall and intestinal fistula reconstruction patients.

The Acute Care Surgery Division has a longstanding commitment to both Resident and Fellow education, and houses accredited fellowships in Surgical Critical Care, Acute Care Surgery and Burn. This new surgeon will be involved in these efforts. Fellowship training in surgical critical care is required.

Based on education and experience

This position requires an MD or equivalent degree; board certification or eligibility in general surgery and surgical critical care

Fellowship training in acute care surgery is preferred.
