OPS - Journal Copy Editor

The Center for Arts in Medicine in the College of the Arts seeks a copy editor to join us in editing submissions for our digital journal, Perspectives on Arts in Health. Perspectives on Arts in Health is an open-access, peer-reviewed publication dedicated to advancing practice and research at the intersection of arts and health.

Responsibilities
  • Corrects grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors
  • Ensures that all content adheres to APA style guide and journal guidelines
  • Reviews references and information to ensure they are cited appropriately in APA style, as applicable
  • Conducts a final proofread of formatted content before publication
  • Collaborate with the layout designer to create journal style guides and submission templates
  • Other tasks as assigned by the editor (Center Director)
Salary

Expected Salary: $40/hour

Required Qualifications
  • B.A. in English, communications, journalism, or related field
  • Able to work up to 10 hours per week
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in proofreading, APA-style, and copy-editing skills
  • Knowledge of APA style
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proven attention to detail and initiative to meet deadlines without prompting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Knowledge of scholarly fields related to arts in health
  • Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism, curiosity, viewpoint diversity, open discourse, and the well-being of all
