Job DescriptionThe University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Communications team (UF/IFAS Communications) amplifies the reach of scientific knowledge with words, technology, art, and video. We focus on building awareness of UF/IFAS experts and expertise. UF/IFAS Communications is seeking a talented and creative Video Producer to join our team. Video producers with the UF/IFAS Communications video unit utilize state-of-the-art technology to produce agricultural and natural resources instructional and promotional videos, program awareness productions, and news‑style pieces in a variety of styles formatted for online use and social media.
Production- Set up lighting, record video and audio, and conduct interviews.
- Utilize cinema-grade cameras for on-location recording across Florida (i.e., Sony FX series, Black Magic Cinema series).
- Identifies the camera, audio, and lighting equipment needed for production.
- Collaborates with subject matter consultants and other producers to evaluate and plan productions, including developing a visual style for each project.
- Ensures lighting positions, sound enhancement, and proper recording equipment are in place to capture the best images and sound in a variety of filming locations.
- Prepares teleprompters with scripts.
- Records footage for staged and unscripted scenes.
- Transport and operate cinema-grade cameras, video recorders, lights, and microphones for on-location shoots across Florida. Ensure proper framing, focus, and exposure during shoots.
- Design and implement lighting setups that enhance mood, tone, and storytelling.
- Recommends equipment purchases, upgrades, or replacements.
- Oversees inventory and orders supplies.
- Performs routine maintenance on audio and video equipment.
- Conduct client intake communications and aid in project management.
- Perform research, concept development, scripting, and storyboarding.
- Plan and pitch professional video projects for marketing, promotional, and educational purposes.
- Edit high-quality video projects for internal and external use.
- Utilize professional non-linear editing systems (e.g., Adobe Premiere).
- Ensure videos meet ADA requirements and align with UF/IFAS brand standards.
- Serve as a liaison between the video unit and the UF/IFAS public relations and social media team.
- Assist with media training for UF/IFAS faculty and staff.
- Engage in continuous skills improvement and stay current on technological advances in video production and science communications.
- Identify and share industry trends and best practices.
- 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional work beyond normal hours and/or on weekends. This work schedule may be adjusted with supervisory approval.
- Travel for consultation, location scouting, and video shoots (15-20% travel, including some overnight stays).
$46,000 commensurate with education and experience

PreferredThe ideal candidate will have a strong eye for storytelling and exceptional technical expertise in order to produce a range of video styles suitable for promotional, educational, and social media use, with a strong emphasis on cinematography and the following skills and experience:
- Proficient in operating industry‑standard videography production equipment.
- Proficient with professional editing software, such as Adobe Premiere.
- Strong knowledge of lighting techniques and setups.
- Understanding of composition, color theory, and visual storytelling.
- Experience operating a drone/drone license is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
