Job Title: Fiber Technician
Location: Columbus, OH
Duration: 6 months +
Start Date: 2/02/26
Job Description- Deep understanding of server hardware (rack/stack, component replacement, diagnostics).
- Familiarity with fiber optic technologies (single-mode/multi-mode, DWDM, CWDM).
- Solid understanding of wireless communications (LTE/5G fundamentals, microwave links).
- Knowledge of telecom transmission systems (SONET/SDH, Ethernet transport).
- Proficiency with telecom testing tools (OTDR, power meters, spectrum analyzers).
- Understanding of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA).
- Able to determine and resolve faults on a point to multipoint network utilizing simplex fiber, splitters, APC connectors.
- Expertise in PON specific tooling (PON light meters, OLT aware light meters, cleaning, VFL, splicing)
- Knowledge of telecom regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with network management and monitoring systems (NMS/OSS/BSS).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, splice diagrams, and circuit layouts.
- Understanding of power distribution in data centers (PDUs, UPS systems, breakers).
- Certified in Light Brigade Fiber 1,2,3 or similar
- Associate network certification ie: (CCNA, JNCIA) or comparable
- Skilled in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecom equipment.
- Experienced with fiber splicing, termination, and cable repairs.
- Ability to configure and test routers, switches, and voice gateways.
- Proficient in testing copper, fiber, and wireless circuits.
- Strong diagnostic skills for network outages and service degradations.
- Skilled in tower work, including climbing and basic RF troubleshooting (if role requires).
- Ability to perform field surveys, site assessments, and equipment audits.
- Ability to lead field teams and oversee complex Data Center deployment projects.
- Strong understanding of change management, incident management, and documentation.
- Experience coordinating with vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Skilled in maintaining accurate logs, inventory, and service records.
- Adherence to strict safety protocols, lockout/tagout, and industry work standards.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Strong communication skills for customer interaction and team coordination.
- Ability to train and mentor junior technicians.
- Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
- Comfortable working in high-pressure, on-call, and mission-critical environments.
- OTDR – proficient in setting up, running, and reading results

Tech Leads will not be managing staff in the field and are responsible for leading the crews from a project level.
Have relevant required Certifications required for the role.
