Overview
We are seeking a Medical Surgical
Registered Nurse Preceptor (Transition To Practice) who will mentor and train new nurses and nursing students. The RN Preceptor plays a crucial role in the preparation and development of new nursing staff, as well as enhancing the skills of existing staff.
Shift’s Available: Monday - Friday. No Weekends unless there is an event.
Employment Type: Full Time
Hours: 8:00AM – 4:30PM. Evenings as needed to educate the night shift.
Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center, Gadsden, AL

- Provides guidance and consultation when needed, regarding effective patient care and scope of practice.
- Creates formal and informal learning opportunities for peers regarding practice issues, technology and/or current research, identifies and intervenes when staff weaknesses are identified.
- Responsible for the care given to his/her assigned patients.
- Communicates with the physician, nurse director, and coworkers about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology.
- Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality. Works collaboratively with patients, patients’ family, significant other(s) and hospital staff to achieve goals and outcomes.
Before we go any further, we do have some deal‑breakers. You must have:
- Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Completion of preceptor class.
- Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
- Ventilator Management experience preferred.
- Medical‑Surgical Nurse‑Board Certified (RN‑BC) or similar certification; preferred.
- Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current, preferred.
- Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
