Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Overview
We are seeking an Orthopedic Registered Nurse, internally referred to as our Medical Surgical RN, on the 7th floor Tower at Riverview Regional Medical Center (Gadsden, AL), a member of Prime Healthcare. An orthopedic registered nurse (RN) specializes in the care of patients with musculoskeletal disorders. They work with patients who have experienced injuries, undergone orthopedic surgery, or have long-term musculoskeletal conditions.
Duties include patient assessment, pain management, wound care, and education about the recovery process.
Shift: Nights (7:00PM - 7:00AM), $4–8 differential in pay.
Bonus: $15,000.

- Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental health
- Monitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions
- Recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, such as changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental status
- Safely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure the patient's needs are met
- Provide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission
- Communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
- Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
- Ventilator Management experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
