Job SummaryThe OHE Lineman A assists the Journeyman Lineman and Foreman while learning the trade. The role supports the Line team, performing construction and maintenance of poles, power lines, and auxiliary facilities, while setting a strong example of safe practices.
Responsibilities- Construct, maintain, and inspect transmission and distribution lines.
- Perform technical tasks such as connecting, installing, and removing electrical equipment on customer facilities.
- Route, reroute, inspect, and remove power lines as directed.
- Assist in pole handling, digging, and pole replacement operations.
- Conduct line switching or sectionalizing.
- Train apprentices and crew members in line construction and maintenance.
- Submit all required Apprentice Program documentation on time.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems on customer equipment.
- Drive the bucket truck to job sites and maintain truck stock.
- Investigate consumer complaints and repair energized distribution lines.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Minimum
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of lineman experience.
- Valid Class A CDL.
- 5 or more years of experience.
- OSHA 10 Certification.
This field role requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and twisting. Working in inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind is common. Lifting up to 50 pounds and maintaining vision at 20 feet or more are essential. Precise hand‑eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors are required.
