Overview
Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. These associates learn about products using our tools, and provide information to customers in order to sell an entire project. They greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department, and know how to handle basics in adjacent departments. They maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas, and ensure it is clean, shop-able, and safe.
They follow all safety policies and standards, complete safety training, immediately correct hazards or report unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty, and work safely to protect themselves, coworkers, vendors, and customers. They work in cooperation with their Department Supervisor and other associates in their department as well as other departments. Specific store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing and Tool Rental.
Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.
- Greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department and handle basics in adjacent departments.
- Maintain in-stock condition of assigned areas; ensure they are clean, shop-able, and safe.
- Follow all safety policies and standards; complete required safety training.
- Immediately correct hazards and report unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty.
- Work cooperatively with the Department Supervisor, other department associates, and other departments.
- Support store-specific departments (e.g., Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, Tool Rental).
- Understand that the role may be classified as Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, or Customer Order Specialist.
- Experience or ability to learn product information and effectively communicate it to customers.
- Ability to greet and engage customers, assess needs, and provide appropriate solutions.
- Willingness to follow safety policies and work safely in a retail environment.
- Ability to work with others and in multiple store departments as needed.
