Overview

An LPN Staff Nurse will, under the supervision of an RN, provide nursing care to clients as outlined in section 2 of the "Practical Nurse law".

• Must attend 12 hours of Person Centered Thinking training prior to or within 90 days of hire.
• Graduate of an Accredited School of Practical Nursing and current North Carolina PN License required.
• One year nursing experience preferred.
• The candidate must pass the criminal record history clearance and a child abuse clearance and possess a valid driver s license.
• SCM certification, observer status required. SCM Level 1 or 2 strongly preferred. CPR/First Aid certification required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Provide nursing care based on client needs.
• Assist with the development of the plan of care.
• Observe client behavior and physical status and notify RN and/or Physician of changes in condition.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment that respects client s rights.
• Assist clients with activities of daily living, encouraging independent behavior when appropriate.
• May supervise Mental Health Technicians during shift.
• Assist in the performance and/or observation of restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved Kids Peace restraint methodology on youth who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are verbally and/or physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others.
• Administer medications as per Physician s orders and observe, record, and report evidence of adverse reactions to medications.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Nursing and Leadership.
