Job Summary Under the supervision of the Outreach Supervisor or designee, performs technical and non-technical duties within the Well Star Laboratory Outreach specimen collection locations. Duties include patient registration, insurance and ICD-10 data entry, test order entry in Epic, Quest and Lab Corp systems, resolving customer service problems, specimen preparation, phlebotomy specimen collection, quality assurance checks on equipment, and all other duties as assigned.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Perform patient registrations, verify lab orders for accuracy, accurately register patients in Epic, verify insurance is current, scan patient information in Epic, order tests, collaborate with physicians, verify test reports, perform monthly audit reports, send STATs within time guidelines, present ABN, collect payments, assist in ordering labs correctly, notify physicians of critical results, reprint reports, assist in billing issues, make follow-up calls, serve as liaison, fax results, maintain records, perform QA checks, perform safety inspections, prepare inventory reports, complete workload tallies, complete personnel requirements, remain current on CLIA and CAP requirements, attend staff meetings.
Required Minimum Education
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor
Required Minimum Experience
- Minimum 1 year of previous computer registration skills completed Well Star Lab Outreach externship
- Preferred and/or completed Well Star Lab Outreach externship
- Minimum 1 year of Customer Service experience preferred
- Minimum 1 year of previous phlebotomy and specimen processing experience preferred
