Position: Senior Principal Systems Engineer (Onsite)

Senior Principal Systems Engineer – Senior Level

Location:

El Segundo, CA or Fullerton, CA.
Security Clearance:
Secret (active/transferable U.S. DoD clearance required).
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required.

What You Will Do
  • Lead the SEIT Control Account Manager (CAM) and cross-domain product owner team in an Agile framework for a fast-paced program.
  • Support and lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers developing programmable cryptographic modules and systems.
  • Architect, design, develop, integrate, and test cryptographic modules and systems.
  • Create system‑level requirements, architectures, security designs, and certification documents.
  • Work closely with software, firmware, and hardware engineers to ensure implementation meets product requirements.
  • Perform system engineering analyses including trade studies, use‑case development, requirements definition/derivation, interface definition, and validation/verification.
  • Support definition of operations concepts and procedure planning/development, interfacing with personnel from other organizations.
  • Lead/attend technical interchange meetings and represent the organization in matters pertaining to the development of the project.
  • Provide the technical interface to the customer and lead system‑integration tasks.
  • Ensure integrity of all engineering products, drawings, plans, specifications, and requirements allocation products.
  • Create required project documentation in support of contract deliverables, including development plans, requirement and design specifications, and test documents.
  • Architect, design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software for network‑security appliances, including device‑management software, communication protocols, device drivers, and control‑plane security features.
  • Work on problems and shape solutions with customers from tactical and strategic perspectives.
  • Support development projects from concept through implementation and integration.
  • Utilize excellent organizational, decision‑making, and communication skills.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Degree in a STEM field or advanced degree with minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams with customers.
  • Knowledge of developing architectures and designs for complex modules.
  • Efficient time management to support multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficient in collaborating with engineering, quality, and operations to oversee hardware development.
  • Experience with requirements management using DOORS.
  • Experience presenting and interfacing with customers (internal and external).
  • Experience closing issues, risks, and opportunities.
  • Current or transferability of a U.S. DoD Secret (or higher) security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with cryptographic products, designs, and certification processes.
  • Cyber‑security knowledge including Risk Management Framework.
  • Knowledge of NSA crypto certification process.
  • Embedded system development experience.
  • Technical depth with FPGAs, analog/digital circuits, and microprocessors.
  • Experience with crypto algorithms and implementing cryptographic certifications.

Salary Range: $145,600 – $276,800 USD
