Part-time Communication Studies Instructor positions are to provide instructional support on an as‑needed basis. The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants to fill part‑time assignments on an as‑needed basis. The department will refer to this pool of part‑time faculty when a need arises.
Required Qualifications- Master’s in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication or organizational communication
- OR Bachelor’s in any of the above
- AND Master’s in drama/ theater arts, mass communication or English
- OR Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area
- OR equivalent qualifications as determined by the District Equivalency Committee
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, and understanding of equity-minded practices within the classroom
- Recent lower division or community college teaching experience
- Demonstrated ability to develop a variety of effective teaching techniques and assessment methods
- Ability to engage student interest to support a variety of learning styles
- Ability to promote the use of instructional technology in curriculum delivery
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Experience teaching and mentoring historically and socially minoritized/marginalized communities such as African‑American/Black, Chicanx/Latinx, Pacific Islander, Native American, women, LGBTQIA+, and people with disabilities
