About the Position
The College of Business and Economics is committed to leading business education through program quality, balancing theory and practice, and expanding outreach and visibility. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Career Engagement Specialist (Student Services Professional III). The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, ethical practices, and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the direction of the Director of Business Career Services, this position supports the College of Business and Economics’ student population of over 11,000 students by advancing experiential learning opportunities and career readiness initiatives. The role is responsible for program development, student engagement, cross-collaboration with college departments and centers, and effective use of career and learning management platforms (e.g., Canvas, Handshake, Hiration, Suitable).
The Career Engagement Specialist will conduct individual and group advising sessions, workshops, and presentations with audiences up to five hundred attendees. The role collaborates with business career services, academic departments, and campus partners to implement student engagement and career readiness pathways that connect students with meaningful professional experiences. Responsibilities include developing data collection plans, program assessment, and database management; facilitating connections between students, career preparedness events, and experiential learning opportunities;
and planning marketing activities to promote programs through social media, websites, and other channels to the campus and external stakeholders. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper-division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution, plus three years of professional student services work. A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field may substitute for one year of professional experience. A Doctoral degree may substitute for three years of professional experience.
