- Location: Fullerton College
- Department: FC Technology & Engineering
- Employment: Full time, 100% employment, tenure track
- Months of Employment: 10 months per year
- Teach cinema and television courses to a diverse student population, including film production, film writing, and film studies.
- Participate in curriculum development and serve on departmental, division, college, and district committees to maintain and improve instructional programs.
- Engage in co‑curricular activities and special programs designed to support student success.
- Participate in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the SLO assessment cycle.
- Maintain formal office and campus hours and participate in department and division meetings.
- Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g., computer software applications) to perform duties efficiently, organized, and timely.
- Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities and compliance with district, college, and division policies.
- Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse student population through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methodologies, and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions.
- Develop culturally relevant course content, culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or historically underserved; experience with African American, Latinx, Native American, Pacific Islander, and other disproportionately impacted students is ideal.
- Work cooperatively with staff and students.
- Evening and/or weekend assignments may be required as part of the regular contract.
- Degree award must be verifiable on a legible transcript; if award date is not posted on transcript, the application will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration.
- Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts.
- All degrees and coursework used to satisfy required minimum qualifications must be submitted and from accredited postsecondary institutions (see our website here regarding accredited postsecondary institutions).
- Evaluations of foreign degrees and/or coursework are required (see our website here for information regarding evaluation of foreign degrees).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher AND two years of professional experience directly related to teaching assignment; OR
- Associate degree AND six years of professional experience directly related to teaching assignment; OR
- Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area; OR
- Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.
- Commitment to diversity: applicants must have demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds; ability to demonstrate how these factors relate to the need for equity‑minded practices within the classroom.
- Master’s degree or higher in Film Production, Cinematic Arts, Cinema Studies or a closely related field.
- A record of academic and/or professional creative accomplishments in film/television.
- Professional experience in two or more of the following areas: film studies, single camera digital film production and post production, entertainment media writing, television multi‑camera production.
- College‑level teaching experience in film studies, film and television production, or a closely related area.
- Experience with diverse teaching modalities (in‑person, hybrid, online).
- Online teaching certification and experience working with Canvas or a similar Learning Management System…
