Public Health - Part-Time Lecturer Pool

Public Health – Part-Time Lecturer Pool, CSU Fullerton. The Department of Public Health invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. This is a pool of part-time lecturers to be drawn on as necessary.

Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Required Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Public Health or related field or equivalent experience working in a public health department or non-profit organization.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with culturally and ethnically diverse populations in community-based venues.
  • Demonstrated ability/potential to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate education to a diverse student population, including first-generation college students.
  • Record of scholarship in their respective area of specialization.
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Public Health practice experience with communities of diverse socio-cultural backgrounds in multiple settings.
  • Public Health leadership experience.
  • Preference for significant teaching experience with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Preference for relevant performance and professional experience.

Appointment Date and Academic Calendar

The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term runs from late August to mid-December; the Spring term runs from mid-January to end of May. On rare occasions, part-time faculty are needed during Summer sessions.

Performance Evaluation

Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are conducted in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine tenure of future teaching assignments, and syllabi, assignments, and reading material may be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.

Appointment and Salary

All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester. Classification Range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range, depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month. Salaries are prorated based on units worked and paid in six monthly payments per semester.
