position

the department of cinema and television arts (ctva) at csu fullerton invites applications for its part-time lecturer pool.

we welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student centered to teach cinema, television and new media within the following subject areas:

• critical studies
• management
• production
• screenwriting

special note for spring 2025 only. Areas of need include:

• film and tv marketing
• film and tv distribution
• management in ctva

this is a general recruitment for a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw from as needed. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.

appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

required qualifications

• a phd or mfa degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
• candidates should have prior teaching experience at the university level.
• candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.

preferred qualifications

• preference will be given to those with significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
• preference will also be given to those with a record of professional writing and currency.

the master of fine arts degree is an intensive, two-year program focusing on writing for film, television and other narrative media, and includes courses to prepare students for work as professional screenwriters and/or screenwriting educators.
