Japanese – Part‑Time Lecturer Pool

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer pool in Japanese to teach undergraduate courses in Japanese language, culture, literature, linguistics and/or film (beginners to advanced learners).

We are seeking highly motivated, well‑organized individuals to teach in at least two of the following subject areas:

• Japanese Language, Introductory to Advanced
• Japanese Culture, Intermediate to Advanced
• Japanese Literature, Intermediate to Advanced
• Japanese Linguistics, Intermediate to Advanced

This pool of part‑time lecturers for the department is drawn on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part‑timeаний pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

• Hold at least a master’s degree in Japanese, Asian Studies, or a related field and possess native‑like fluency in Japanese to teach 100‑ and 200‑level courses.
• Be a Ph.D. candidate (ABD) in Japanese, Asian Studies, or a related field and possess native‑like fluency in Japanese to teach 300‑level courses.
• Hold a Ph.D. in Japanese, Asian Studies, or a related field and possess native‑like fluency in Japanese to teach 400‑level courses.
• Demonstrate ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first‑generation college students.
• Have the legal right to work in the United States. CSU Fullerton cannot sponsor part‑time faculty for work visas or permanent residence.

• Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching skills.
• Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
• Relevant work experience and professional capabilities that enhance the academic mission.
