Part-Time Lecturer Pool

POSITION

The Department of Geography & the Environment at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool to teach undergraduate courses in physical, environmental, regional, and human geography. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.

Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Minimum qualifications
  • Candidates must hold at least a Master’s degree in Geography or a closely-related field.
  • Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
Preferred qualifications
  • Preference will be given to those with (a) experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment; (b) relevant work experience and professional capabilities, and (c) college and university teaching experience, who can provide evidence of high-quality teaching.

The Department:

The Department of Geography & the Environment provides students with a well-rounded education that bridges the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities, and provides training in geospatial techniques. The Geography degree prepares students for careers in education, environmental analysis, government, planning, resource management, and other fields. We prepare students for the critical challenges of the 21st century by promoting global understanding and environmental stewardship.

In addition to the B.A. in Geography, the department offers an Environmental Analysis concentration, and certificates in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Geospatial Technologies.

Appointment date and academic calendar

The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
