BASIC FUNCTION: Under direct supervision, provide assistance to instructional personnel in serving the educational needs of students in a classroom environment; and perform related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Monitor student activities, such as drill, practice, and research under the instructions of a teacher.
- Mark, score, and average grades of written objective tests.
- Assist the teacher in providing instructional materials to individuals or groups of students.
- Take attendance; complete appropriate documents required from classroom activity.
- Explain instructions and answer routine questions in the absence of the teacher.
- Prepare teacher aids, such as charts, bulletins, and other presentations as directed by the teacher.
- Monitor tests, study hall, and appropriate classroom situations.
- Take, file, and deliver messages.
- Operate office duplicating, audio‑visual, reading lab equipment, etc.
- Type classroom and general materials in draft form, including examinations.
- Collect, assemble, catalogue, and distribute materials.
- Operate a computer terminal and demonstrate the proper use of the computer for student use.
- Subject being taught preferred.
- Typing, filing, and general clerical skills.
- Learn school policies, and the methods, practices, and terminology used in instructional situations.
- Spell and use proper grammar.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Operate office duplicating and audio‑visual equipment.
- Type 30 words per minute.
- Motivate and establish good relationships with students.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Graduation from high school.
- Pass the Proficiency Test or provide transcripts reflecting 48 or more units of college coursework.
Environment:
Classroom or office environment, subject to moderate noise, some distraction, and interruptions; requires meeting multiple demands from several people and interaction with staff, and students.
Seeing to monitor student behavior during classroom activities, hearing and speaking to provide assistance and information related to classroom assignments, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer terminal, audio‑visual and educational training equipment, bending at the waist, kneeling, and standing and walking for extended periods of time.

REQUESTS AND OTHER INFORMATIONNew three‑year collective bargaining agreement;
Salary schedule beginning 7.1.25 will include a 2% salary schedule increase and a 2% off‑schedule payment at year‑end pending ratification.
2026‑2027:
Salary schedule increase of 60% of the statutory funded COLA, plus any funded ongoing augmentations as provided in the State Budget Act; 2% off‑schedule payment at year‑end pending ratification.
2027‑2028:
Salary schedule increase of 50% of the statutory funded COLA, plus any funded ongoing augmentations as provided in the State Budget Act; 2% off‑schedule payment at year‑end pending ratification.
