Hours:
10 Months Per Year
Teach a variety of courses on Drone Technology, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), Autonomous Systems, and related topics to a diverse student body. Courses may include introductory and advanced drone piloting, autonomous flight operations, LiDAR and photogrammetry, maritime ROV operations, FPV piloting, Part 107 exam prep, drone safety and maintenance, aerial imaging and cinematography, autonomous systems management, upper‑level bachelor’s degree courses, and others.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching lecture and hands‑on laboratory courses using industry‑standard equipment.
- Engaging and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
- Updating curriculum to reflect current industry practices, technologies, and regulations.
- Participating in program development, equipment acquisition, industry partnerships, and advisory committees.
- Supporting program initiatives such as apprenticeships, internships, K–12 outreach, industry collaborations, and community events.
- Participating in departmental and college governance, accreditation, and shared decision‑making.
- Maintaining professional competence through training, certifications, and ongoing industry engagement.
- Serving on department, division, college, and district committees, as necessary.
- Planning and teaching special programs designed to support student success.
- Contributing to Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and assessment.
- Maintaining office hours and attending meetings.
- Utilizing emerging technologies and software as needed.
- Managing clerical and administrative responsibilities.
- Providing culturally relevant content and responsive pedagogical techniques.
- Collaborating with staff and students; evening/weekend work may be required.
Duties and responsibilities may be modified per operational needs.
Special RequirementsAll degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. Grade cards are not accepted. Evaluations of foreign degrees are required.
Minimum Qualifications- A Master’s degree in a related field; or
- A Master’s degree in any field with two years of professional experience; or
- A Bachelor’s degree in any field with six years of professional experience.
- Remote Pilot (Part 107) Certificate.
- Commitment to diversity and demonstrated sensitivity to all student backgrounds.
- Evidence of fostering equitable learning environments.
- Experience teaching diverse adult learners.
- Experience operating uncrewed/autonomous systems in real‑world settings.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations and emerging technologies.
- Ability to collaborate with industry partners.
Salary Range: $85,541 - $128,379 Annually
