Job Description: The Department invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. Applicants will teach courses in the following areas:

  • Introduction to Ethnic Studies
  • Introduction to Asian Pacific American Studies
  • History of Asian Pacific Americans
  • Asian Pacific American Cultural Studies
  • Asian American Film and Video
  • Asian American Women
  • Vietnamese Communities in the US
  • Vietnamese American Experiences
  • Multiple Heritage Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders
  • South Asian American Experiences
  • Korean American Experiences
  • World War II Japanese American Evacuation
  • Civic Engagement Through Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies
  • Survey of American History with Emphasis on Ethnic Minorities

Required Qualifications:

  • ABD doctoral candidate or Master’s degree with substantial graduate coursework in Asian American Studies, ethnic studies, or related fields.
  • Expertise in fields relevant to the department curriculum.
  • Evidence of prior relevant teaching, mentoring, or tutoring experience.
  • Evidence of experience in relevant academic or professional/community‑based settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body, including first‑generation college students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Professional experience and capabilities, including non‑traditional career backgrounds.

  • Cover Letter specifying which courses and modalities (online, hybrid, in‑person) you are qualified to teach.
  • Unofficial transcripts for highest terminal degree.
  • Three references with contact information.
  • Inclusive Excellence Statement (≤ 500 words).
  • Sample course syllabus.
  • Teaching evaluations, if available.

Required Materials Before Official Hire:

  • Three letters of recommendation.

Appointment & Salary:

Initial appointments are for one semester only. Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range depends on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month. For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation is $6,608.40 – $7,465.20 per semester. Additional benefits can be viewed at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
