POSITION

The Division of Politics, Administration, and Justice at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Public Administration Part‑time Lecturer Pool. We are seeking intelligent, highly motivated, well‑organized part‑time lecturers to teach in our curriculum, particularly for face‑to‑face upper‑division and graduate‑level courses in Public Administration.

An area of particular need is experience teaching or qualifications to teach upper‑division and graduate courses in public finance and research methods, but other areas of interest include administrative law, emergency management, human resources, leadership, organizational theory, or ethics. This pool of part‑time lecturers will be drawn on as necessary; appointments are typically temporary and made on short notice.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior teaching experience at the university level.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first‑generation college students.
  • Academically qualified: holding a Ph.D., D.P.A., J.D., or MA/MS/MPA in a field related to teaching responsibilities, with scholarship activities to support teaching.
  • Professionally qualified: graduate degree plus outstanding professional experience directly relevant to teaching assignment; engagement in professional or community service supporting teaching duties.
  • Minimum level of education to teach 100‑300 level: master’s degree or ABD (even without a master’s). To teach 400‑level or graduate courses: terminal degree (Ph.D., D.P.A., J.D.).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment.
  • Relevant work experience and professional capabilities.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The greatest need for part‑time faculty is in Fall and Spring semesters. Fall begins late August and ends mid‑December;
Spring runs mid‑January through end of May. Part‑time faculty may be needed during Summer Sessions on rare occasions.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

Regular performance evaluations are conducted by the department in accordance with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine retention for future teaching assignments.

APPOINTMENT AND SALARY

All part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers. Initial appointments are one semester only. Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month. For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

The person holding this position is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083.
