The Baler Operator is responsible for baling wood shavings used for animal bedding.

• Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area.
• Troubleshoot machinery and perform changeovers.
• Assist in the monitoring of chip, fines and shavings bins.
• Train employees who are new to the department to work safely and efficiently.
• Assist in other areas within the department as needed.
• Assist in moving trailers as needed.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic mechanical abilities.
• Ability to work as a member of a team and communicate professionally with others.

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls;

reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.

This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
