The role of a pipelayer is critical in the construction and maintenance of pipeline systems that transport water, gas, sewage, and other materials. This position involves preparing and laying pipes in trenches or other designated areas, ensuring proper alignment, connection, and secure installation to meet safety and engineering standards. The pipelayer will collaborate closely with construction teams, equipment operators, and supervisors to complete projects efficiently and safely.
Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to prevent leaks, environmental hazards, and structural failures. Ultimately, the pipelayer contributes to the infrastructure that supports communities and industries by ensuring reliable and durable pipeline systems.
Pay Range: $ 30/HR
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in construction or pipeline installation work.
- Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and technical drawings.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.
- Familiarity with safety standards and practices related to pipeline construction.
- Certification in pipeline construction or related trades.
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators or trenchers.
- Knowledge of welding or pipe fitting techniques.
- First aid and OSHA safety training certifications.
- Previous experience working on municipal or industrial pipeline projects.
- Excavate trenches and prepare the ground for pipe installation using hand tools and machinery.
- Position and lay pipes according to blueprints, specifications, and safety standards.
- Connect pipes using appropriate methods such as welding, sealing, or mechanical joints.
- Inspect installed pipelines for alignment, leaks, and structural integrity.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, and pipe-lifting devices.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate workflow and ensure project deadlines are met.
- Follow all safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Assist in site cleanup and maintenance of tools and equipment.
