Director of Nursing

Work Setting: In-person | Assisted Living / Long-Term Care

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations and nursing services within the assisted living community. This role ensures high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and strong clinical leadership.

• Manage and supervise nursing and caregiving staff to ensure exceptional resident care
• Create and maintain a positive work environment to promote staff retention
• Evaluate prospective residents for admission appropriateness
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Service Plans (ISPs)
• Maintain resident and staff records in compliance with Virginia state regulations
• Ensure compliance with Virginia Department of Social Services and Department of Health standards
• Lead infection control, medication management, and quality assurance programs
• Coordinate resident care with physicians, families, and outside healthcare providers
• Conduct internal audits and prepare for state inspections
• Act as liaison between residents, families, physicians, and administration
• Foster a culture focused on dignity, respect, and resident independence

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia (required)
• Minimum 3+ years of nursing experience
• At least 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
• Experience in assisted living, memory care, or long-term care preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Familiarity with Virginia Assisted Living Facility (ALF) regulations
