Imaging Technician –
Valley Health
- Produce radiologic images of specified body parts/areas as ordered, following established procedures and standards and adapting as appropriate for patient age and condition.
- Meet patients' physical and emotional needs during procedure.
- Correctly modify preps, exposure factors, and ensure proper identification of patients and use of markers for all exams from pediatric to geriatric patients, ensuring radiation protection for self, patient, and ancillary personnel.
- Administer contrast media as indicated for specific exams following all injection policies and protocols; perform related duties of patient care in the department as volume and staffing dictate.
- Verify and execute proper imaging tests with physician or technologist.
- Demonstrate safe set‑up, operation, and troubleshooting of equipment; instruct patients regarding physiological requirements.
- Position and transfer patients comfortably while maintaining patient safety; verify pregnancy status in women of child‑bearing age.
- Use available information systems technology to record and distribute information necessary for patient care and operational needs: accurately enter data into the HIS system to order exams, capture patient visit/charge info, record exam time, resource usage, procedural codes, equipment and supplies used; adjust studies as needed; record allergies and reactions to contrast; annotate images; limit unnecessary exams; protect patient rights and maintain privacy and confidentiality.
- Follow all personnel, safety and infection control policies; communicate with supervisor and department manager on departmental productivity; complete mandatory hospital and departmental education; maintain required professional certification and continuing education; supervise radiologic technology students during clinical rotations; attend 50% of staff meetings.
- Competence in performing examinations and procedures on patients of all ages.
- Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development and competence in providing Radiologic Services for patients of all ages including neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
- Required certifications: ARRT(R) Registered or registry eligible with satisfactory completion of an AMA‑accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
