Actual salary will be calculated based on experience.

Primary Purpose

Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems in district facilities. Maintain and repair fire and security, bell, and sound systems. Perform yearly inspections on fire systems.

Qualifications
  • Education/Certification:

    High school diploma or GED
  • Valid journey electrician license
  • Valid Texas driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring and operating principles of motors
  • Knowledge of local electrical codes
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the electrical field

Major Responsibilities And Duties
  • Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment.
  • Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit‑breaker panels, etc.
  • Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment.
  • Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit.
  • Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances.
  • Select material and hardware and make time and material estimates.
  • Maintain accurate records on material and labor use.
  • Maintain inventory of district‑owned tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools & equipment.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures, ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition, and follow established safety procedures and techniques to job duties.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Ability to work in stressful environment. Work with frequent interruptions. Continuous driving from location to location. Able to work comfortably at heights above 10 feet using ladders or lifts; carry and work off ladders (6ft and 10ft extension ladder). Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Extensive work with hands above head. Work outside and inside.

Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles. Frequent twisting, reaching above shoulder. Frequent lifting and carrying, 15‑60 pounds.
