Director of Health ServicesThe Director of Health Services (DHS) is responsible for the overall supervision, provision, and quality of nursing and supportive services in Assisted Living.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing, organizing, and operating nursing and supportive services for Assisted Living.
- Coordinating and monitoring nursing services for all residents, including procurement of outside resources to ensure residents’ needs are met.
- Communicating with and assessing outside consultants to recommend resident care needs.
- Coordinating and monitoring documentation that reflects wellness care, individuals’ response to care, and disposition of each case.
- Selecting, training, evaluating, and disciplining all nursing‑related personnel.
- Developing and maintaining duty assignments for all nursing and supportive services to ensure 24‑hour coverage that meets regulatory requirements and community standards.
- Maintaining clinical skills and staying knowledgeable of current standards of nursing practice through geriatrics‑related education.
- Assisting residents and families by offering emotional support in dealing with the aging process.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse with a current license in Texas (required).
- Minimum of two years’ experience in geriatric nursing and at least two years of nursing administration experience.
- Strong systems and process management skills.
- Experience with staffing.
- Computer proficiency; must be comfortable using technology systems daily to manage resident care, medications, and tracking.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees, and outside contacts.
