Position: Senior / Staff Prototype Technician

Yoh has an exciting, contract opportunity for a Senior / Staff Prototype Technician to join our Aerospace & Defense client in Frisco, TX

Title: Senior / Staff Prototype Technician
Compensation: $28.00–$51.00/hour, depending on experience level
Type: Contract (potential to extend or convert based on performance and business needs)
Industry: Aerospace / Defense
Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Person (ITAR environment)

Responsibilities
  • Support accelerated prototype builds of advanced aircraft and flight system platforms prior to production release.
  • Assemble and integrate complex wire harnesses and PCB assemblies in accordance with aerospace-grade workmanship standards.
  • Perform precision crimping, soldering, wire routing, shielding, connector termination, and backshell installation.
  • Interpret detailed engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and build instructions to execute highly technical assemblies.
  • Route and secure wiring to meet form board layouts, bend radius requirements, and environmental specifications.
  • Conduct visual inspections and electrical testing, including continuity and insulation resistance checks, to verify conformance to Class 3 standards.
  • Identify and correct workmanship defects to ensure zero-defect quality expectations in a high-reliability environment.
  • Maintain accurate production records, test documentation, and component traceability.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, avionics, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues and support rapid development cycles.
  • Adhere to all safety, ESD, and quality procedures within a regulated aerospace manufacturing setting.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience in aerospace, defense, military, or other high-reliability electronics manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience building and inspecting wire harnesses and electronic assemblies to IPC Class 3 standards.
  • Current IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification required (or recently held with ability to recertify).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and detailed work instructions.
  • Hands‑on experience with crimping tools, soldering equipment, inspection microscopes, and related assembly tools.
  • Experience supporting prototype or low‑volume, high‑mix production environments preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with a disciplined approach to quality and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced development environment with evolving priorities.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods in a lab or production environment.
  • Frequent fine motor use of hands for detailed assembly and soldering work.
  • Ability to visually inspect small components and wiring assemblies with precision.
  • Capability to lift and move materials or equipment up to approximately 25 pounds as needed.
